first halloween

Category: everyday | November 1st, 2011

well her first experience was a success. P met up with her little neighborhood buddies, had a mini photo shoot of course, and then went trick or treating. :)

the more pictures we took the more they moved. they gave us about 30 seconds and then they moved on. lol

she did very well with her costume (candy corn!) she surprisingly didn’t mess with her tutu or her massive bow. such a good girl. ;)

she made it longer than i thought. another mama let me wear her ergo for the last part of the walk and i think P loved it. she pretty much fell asleep after 5 minutes. i need to get one of those! :)

we went back home to hand out candy to the other kiddos and hang out with P’s bestie and her rents. so much fun. (*thanks H for staying up past your bedtime!) it was a good first experience. next year P will get to walk herself to the doors! eeeek. slow down!

let’s see how many years i can get away with making her costumes.

tulle cutting short cut

Category: DIY | October 28th, 2011

for all those out there who want to make these amazing no sew tutus (there are tons and tons of “tuturials,” so i didn’t do one) BUT i wanted to share this little, but amazing, short cut on cutting the strips of tulle. i first saw it here. it’s genius (and if you already knew this then you are even cooler).

take a piece of cardboard and cut it to the size of what length/width you want. i did mine 6in wide x 8in long. (for itty bitty tutus you don’t want them too long esp if they are crawling, so when i fold them in half and tie them on the elastic/ribbon they are a little less than 8inches.)

so wrap it around the cardboard however many times you need it (i use the spools that are already cut 6in. life saver). wrap it with a rubber band to hold it in place and cut down ONE side. i used an exacto knife. worked great. and there you have it! tons and tons of tulle in the same length.

just thought i’d share with y’all in case you want to make one and don’t like going crazy over cutting tulle. :)

let’s try this again…

so i randomly found out the other night that i was doing P’s costume in the wrong color order! so not cool. lol. this was after i already dyed 2 onesies yellow (the first one had a stain on it) and bought more orange tulle online (priority mail shipping too!) because i went to too many other stores and no one had any. so long story short….i guess don’t eat enough of these things to know the correct order of colors. so let’s try this again…..
**i do have an idea of how i’m going to use the yellow onesie with a stain. fun! and the orange tulle will be put to good use for P’s bestie and her 1st bday outfit!! it all worked out. :) happy friday!!!!!!!!!!!

Inglesina table chair

Category: baby, everyday | October 26th, 2011

just a little suggestion for the little ones….coolest chair ever!

i got this hook on/table chair by Inglesina today (wished i got it sooner) and penelope LOVES it. how can a baby love a chair? lol well she’s not squirming around and fussing to get out after 3 minutes like her other high chair. she was in it the first time for like 30 minutes while she ate lunch and i cooked and cleaned the dishes. i love it on our counter. we get to bond over cooking and cleaning. PLUS it’s a space saver and it’s mobile…as in you can take it anywhere. so just a random thought for the mamas. great purchase! oh and molly panda is a big fan of it too. ;)

*thanks katy and hadley for the inspiration!! :)
