diy paint swatch wall art

Category: DIY | November 12th, 2012

i am loving this new project the mister and i did awhile back (of course i am just now getting to post about it). it might have taken us awhile to agree on colors and the arrangement but it was worth the wait. all you need are some thumbtacks (or a few hundred), lots of paint swatches, and a very patient person to mark where every square will be pinned on the wall so you have straight lines….thank you love!!) we have had this entryway wall empty for quite some time now so i am glad we have something we love…and the best part…it cost us about $3 (for the thumbtacks). score! i wonder if all the lowe’s/home depot employees hate us “pinterest” people who come in and use the swatches for projects. oops. and thank you! this was our inspiration for the wall. we managed to take a “few” informal pics of the process. enjoy!

did you forget about the quilt??

because i did. ha. i was cleaning my little studio, found it, and felt guilty that it wasn’t finished. i think i’m putting it off because i know it’s going to take a lot of time and i’ve never done one. but i plan on layering all the pieces together and getting it ready for basting! get excited! it has come a long way since this.**oh and it didn’t come out to be exactly queen size, but that’s okay because i don’t want to sew anymore little squares together. :)

i try to work a little bit each night before i go to sleep. i  knew it was going to take awhile for this project, but man…sewing little squares together takes a long time. lol. but making some progress. :)

quilt project and a giveaway winner

Category: everyday | June 1st, 2011

today is the day with the winner! but first i wanted to share how my quilt is coming along…:)

as you can see it has taken over the dining table. husband is not a fan of that….oops. i’m not really following a pattern. in fact, i’m totally winging it. haha. i am going with a little pattern of the white squares. i had about 5 times more of those squares than any other color so that’s what is going down. i’m planning on making it big enough for a queen size bed, so we shall see if i have enough already pre-cut thanks to my grannie. :)

i’m loving it so far. i only get to work on it late at night when penny pants goes to bed…and lately that has been really late. oh well. i still need to figure out what i’m going to do for the back part. well enough rambling…here’s what you’ve been waiting for.

and the lovely winner of the spiral roses headband is:

**yay bonita! email me (kristenmcashan@gmail.com) with your address and i’ll send it your way!
