week 33…and 34
Category: belly series | October 16th, 2012
this photo was taken at week 33 but really i am almost 35 weeks. always behind. ;) so much has happened since my last belly post. we started our birthing classes again. at the first class i teared up at all the births we watched on a video. lol. i think these classes are obviously going to be helpful and remind me of a lot of things i might have forgotten about…but i think they will really help me mentally prepare for this deliver. since life has been extra busy lately i haven’t had as much time to really get focused spiritually and mentally. with P i had a little more time on my hands and less people to take care of so it was easier. so i am thankful for these classes…even though they are a bit inconvenient with the time and location. ;) it’s all good.
P and i took our last road trip for awhile to visit the family back home this past weekend. i took the back roads route for the first time and realized i have been missing out! country roads are so much more peaceful and less hectic than the massive highways like 35…plus i skipped all the TX/OU weekend traffic…which we will not talk about anymore. sad day. we did manage to go to the state fair. P’s first time! she loved it! i loved the food! ;) (thankfully i just got over a not so fun 24 hour stomach bug the night before so i was able to enjoy the day as well!) we even went to my high school’s volleyball game too. my first one since going to high school. ah memories. it was fun seeing my old coach too. still call her coach. clearly. oh and P did not sit still for one second. no joke. thankfully my mom was there to follow all the little ones on the bleachers and up and down the halls throughout the whole game. ;)
it was weird hearing my parents tell us goodbye and that the next time they see us there will be another baby! eeeek. it’s so close guys. i also might not be anywhere near prepared at home. lol. we will be getting all the baby stuff down from the attic this weekend….along with a lovely baby shower my friend is hosting for me! can’t wait. i still need to unpack from the weekend. i actually need a vacation from my weekend. we did so much (fun stuff of course) but i am worn out! pretty sure it’s going to take all week to get back on track and have a clean house. the mister did clean up my mess from packing right before we left so i am thankful for that too!
and a side note…if you want to see an awesome gender reveal video my friend did (green jazz face, remember her??) check it out. i love her craziness. ;) AND i can’t wait to make her lots of bows. ;)
and i have realized that i took an entire week break from blogging….not on purpose, but life just happens you know. i try not to get stressed over not posting because well it’s just a blog. ha. but i do have goals from this blog and so far i am not doing a great job. so here’s to making more of an effort!….because i know y’all all want to know what’s going on in my life and miss me when i don’t post. ;) let’s all have a great rest of the week! :)
diy wall yarn art
Category: DIY | October 8th, 2012
so remember the pinterest challenge i posted about awhile back? well i surprisingly have been doing it! ;) however most of them have been recipes. i mean, a girl has got to eat right? however this is one “challenge” i thought i would post about. i have had this pinned for quite some time and it’s always been in the back of my mind to do. so i was excited when the mister had a few hours to help me otherwise this would have been a week long project for me (not that it would really take one person that long to do it, but with a busy toddler and being super pregnant it might). i went ahead and did a little tutorial for y’all…however there are several ways to do this. (this was the best way for us…to fulfill the mister’s OCDness) ;)

materials: ruler, hammer, nails (mine are 2″), tape, scissors, paper, and yarn
*you can totally free hand the letters but we went ahead and printed them out and taped pieces of paper together to make the desired size. (ended up being 18 inches tall)
1. once you have your template, tape it to the wall.
2. we used this nifty laser level thing that the mister has to make sure the word was lined up. this thing has come in handy quite a bit!
*take a break and play with your very patient toddler. :)
3. hammer in nails in each corner….and be sure to double check every corner.
4. go through and measure each nail to have a desired/matching length showing. (we left about an inch out).
5. tear off the paper.
6. on each letter pick a nail and start with a knot and then wrap around to your heart’s desire! i went around 3 times (following the outline of the letter)
*take another play break and enjoy!
7. finish off each letter with another knot on the same nail where you started. then trim off the excess yarn! and done!
you can even out the layers or just keep it random…depending on your style. i chose a neutral color to start off with since i knew this was going to be taking up a huge portion of our wall (it’s about 12 feet wide). the room is still a work in progress so there’s not too much color in there just yet….i can see myself changing out the yarn color sometime. that’s the neat thing about this project. the yarn isn’t permanent so feel free to change it out whenever. and it’s super easy/fast/cheap! everyone wins. :)
wednesday randomness
Category: everyday | October 3rd, 2012
happy wednesday everyone! here’s a little randomness for your day. i’m loving my new print i got from the lovely ashley g. as you know i am still slowly but surely covering up blank spaces on the walls. the mister helped me with a wall project the other weekend and i’m hoping to get another wall done this weekend (i’ll post about that in a bit). and yes they are pinterest inspired. story of my life. ;)
we went to our neighborhood “national night out” event last night. do y’all have that? it’s like a big block party at our park. i love it. the weather was ah-mazing! we hung out with some friends, chatted with the sister in law, and even met lots of new people. miss P had a great time and i actually had some conversations with other adults. (thanks love!)
my parents got us a double jogging stroller and had it sent to our house this past weekend. is it weird that that massive box made this baby seem more real!? lol. i know i still have a little bit of time….but then again i don’t. (i’ll be 33 weeks tomorrow! and slacking on the belly pics again. oops). i made a goal to have all the newborn stuff at least down from the attic by 35 weeks and then spending the next couple weeks getting it all set up/washed/organized. i have a slight feeling this baby will be a teeny bit early (miss P was one day early). but who knows…he/she might come late. but i hope not. i’m already feeling rather large. our morning walks are getting a little harder, but i must.keep.going. those walks/social time with my friends have helped so much this pregnancy. (thank you ladies!) i didn’t really exercise at all with P and i can definitely tell the difference. so all you pregnant mamas out there…get your exercise on!
and i am super happy to report that i taught myself how to crochet. the super super basics, but still. that has been on my goal list for a year and i finally made some time to learn. a simple 5 minute youtube video did the trick. i don’t regret learning but man it has taken all of my free time and more. it’s so addicting.
*side note: i am still getting used to writing about more “personal” things. i wrote up this whole post, and then deleted it. i thought to myself…who wants to read about this? it’s nothing fancy just my life. but you know…oh well. i’m going to write about my awesome life and see if anyone else reads it! ha anyone else feel that way??
diy painted canvas tote
Category: DIY | September 28th, 2012
everyone needs to try out the good ole freezer paper on canvas tote thing at least once in their lives. :) i had a random bag laying around and thought i’d make miss P a little simple bag to call her own. if your toddler is like mine then they will love carrying around this random big bag and filling it with rocks and baby dolls. but really this is such an easy DIY and a great way to personalize something small. AND makes great gift ideas~Christmas is coming up!

materials: you can find freezer paper at just about any grocery store. i think i got mine a long time ago at walmart. i used an exacto knife but you can easily cut out your design with scissors too.
1. i used photoshop for my template but there are so many other options to use like a word document or even be awesome and freehand it with pencil and paper.
2. if transferring onto freezer paper then it’s easier if you tape your template to the paper. make sure it’s on the non shiny side!
3. figure out where you want your design and iron it on….shiny side down! go slow so you don’t have wrinkles like i got. oops.
4. now the fun part. go ahead and put cardboard or something behind where you’re painting so it does not bleed through on the other side. and be sure not to put too much paint since it might bleed under the paper like mine on a few places. oops again. but imperfections are pretty too. :) let it dry completely. i ended up just waiting over night but it was dry by the time i went to bed.
5. carefully peel off the freezer paper and ENJOY! easy as pie. :)

depending on how much you already have on hand this is a pretty inexpensive project and you can do it in one sitting (or in my case during the little one’s nap) not including the” waiting for paint to dry” time. you can do this project on all sorts of fabrics. even all those old t shirts you don’t wear anymore can be revamped with a little tlc and freezer paper. :) have fun!
